Title IX at UW\u2013Stevens Point<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Office of Title IX advances the mission of the University of Wisconsin\u2013Stevens Point, including our Marshfield and Wausau campuses, by fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students, employees, and visitors. We work to ensure that everyone can live, learn, and work free from sex discrimination and sexual misconduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are committed to preventing and responding to all forms of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual violence, and discrimination based on protected class, in line with federal and state law and University of Wisconsin policies. Our office responds to reports of sexual misconduct and other civil rights concerns, takes prompt action to stop prohibited conduct, addresses its effects, and works to prevent it from happening again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We believe compliance is a shared responsibility. Every member of the UW\u2013Stevens Point community is expected to understand their obligations, act with respect and integrity, and be accountable for their behavior. By collaborating with campus and community partners, we reduce compliance risk, strengthen institutional practices, and promote a campus culture grounded in dignity, safety, and ethical conduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Title IX?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Title IX is a federal civil rights law passed as part of the Education Amendments of 1972. It protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In simple terms, Title IX means that no person in the United States may be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program or activity that receives federal funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At UW\u2013Stevens Point, the following behaviors are prohibited under Title IX and university policy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
