Want to try something new, but not sure how to get started or how to decide whether it\u2019s working? Join a CITL Learning Community. The overarching goal of a learning community is for instructors to make informed changes that increase the effectiveness of their teaching with the support of a community of peers. The specificity of those changes will be directed by the participants themselves, with the learning community intended to provide collegiality, guidance, and resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2026-27 Faculty Learning Communities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Two Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) are being offered through CITL for the 2026-27 academic year. Faculty and instructional staff are invited to apply. Those who participate in a CITL FLC and complete the activities will receive a $500 stipend at the conclusion of the FLC (May 2027).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information on each FLC and a link to apply are shared on this page.&nbsp;<strong>Interested faculty should apply no later than June 1, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"479\" height=\"365\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/center-for-inclusive-teaching-and-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2026\/03\/learning-communities.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/center-for-inclusive-teaching-and-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2026\/03\/learning-communities.jpg 479w, https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/center-for-inclusive-teaching-and-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2026\/03\/learning-communities-300x229.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 479px) 100vw, 479px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">INCLUSIVE&nbsp;AND ENGAGED&nbsp;TEACHING PRACTICES<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This FLC is designed to support instructors in supporting student learning and belonging through reflection, interaction with colleagues, and discussions of evidence-based strategies. The FLC will use the book&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/criticalteachingbehaviors.org\/about-ctb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Critical Teaching Behaviors<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;as a shared reading to explore topics including course alignment, student engagement, assessment, technology use, and reflection on teaching practice. Participants in this FLC will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Explore inclusive and engaged teaching practices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reflect on how teaching choices align with course goals and student needs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experiment with small, meaningful changes to teaching practices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gather and discuss evidence of student learning and engagement (e.g., artifacts, feedback, reflections)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Articulate their teaching practices and choices more clearly to others<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This FLC is open to faculty and instructional staff from any discipline, campus, or career stage, and will be helpful to any instructor who wants to be more intentional about their teaching, increase student engagement and inclusion, or find better ways to talk about and document their teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.cloud.microsoft\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=rUucIBTfckGH3wYPhPAaETd892e4BWlHn0VVdwsnn9hUMDdUTzdVMjNBQU1TUE41TlpQMktRUDhEVy4u\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Apply to the Inclusive and Engaged Teaching Practices FLC<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SCHOLARSHIP OF&nbsp;TEACHING AND&nbsp;LEARNING<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Building on the success of this year\u2019s SoTL FLC, this learning community will once again be led by James Berry, Associate Professor of English. Designed for anyone with an interest in SoTL, whether you are simply curious, exploring a first project, or looking for dedicated time and space to work on an existing project, the FLC will meet regularly throughout the academic year to support participants in developing and engaging in meaningful SoTL projects.Participants will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Engage in shared readings and discussions about SoTL principles, methods, and examples<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn from experienced SoTL scholars on campus through guest conversations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explore opportunities for collaboration and peer feedback<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discuss practical considerations for engaging in SoTL, including:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigating the IRB process<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identifying venues for publication and presentation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planning, designing, and sustaining SoTL projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty and instructors from any discipline, campus, or career stage are encouraged to apply.
