Proctoring MyOpenMath quizzes with Respondus involves setup in MyOpenMath, Canvas LMS, and Respondus.

MyOpenMath Setup #

Configure your MyOpenMath Course Settings to Allow the LMS to set Assessment Due Dates #

1. Login to MyOpenMath and navigate to your MyOpenMath course homepage.
2. Click Course Settings
3. Click LMS Integration
4. Turn on “Allow the LMS to set assessment due dates”
5. Click Submit

Create a Password for your Quiz #

1. Select your assessment (quiz)
2. Click the Settings menu button
3. Click Time Limit and Access Control
4. Set a Time Limit
5. Select “Kick student out at time limit”
6. In the Require Password field, set a password and write it down or remember it.
7. Save Changess

Canvas Setup #

When you create a MyOpenMath assessment, it will automatically create a corresponding Canvas Assignment, if you have MyOpenMath integrated with your Canvas course.

Create A Canvas Quiz #

2. Navigate to the Quizzes page in Canvas
3. Click the +Quiz button. UWSP recommends that you create a Classic Quiz.
4. Enter content into these quiz fields:
   • Title
   • Instructions (recommended instructions below)
     • This Canvas quiz will redirect you to the MyOpenMath quiz. Once you have completed and submitted your quiz in MyOpenMath, close that browser tab and then submit this Canvas Quiz.
       
       Don’t forget to submit both the MyOpenMath quiz and the Canvas Quiz
   • Time Limit – set this at five minutes more than the time limit you set in MyOpenMath
   • Due, Available From, and Available Until Dates
5. Click the Questions Tab
6. Click the +NewQuestion button
7. Select Multiple Choice as the Question Type
8. Add this text or something similar in the question text field.
   • By clicking the link below, I agree to take the quiz linked below while being proctored by Respondus LockDown Browser. After you complete the MyOpenMath quiz, make sure you answer this Canvas Quiz Question and submit this quiz.
     
     Click the link below to launch the MyOpenMath exam.
     
     -Link to Exam:
     -Password: (enter the quiz password from MyOpenMath here)
     
     
9. Click after “-Link to Exam:” to place your cursor there
10. Click the Links button in the Canvas Rich Content Editor and choose Course Links
11. Click Assignments
12. Click the corresponding MyOpenMath Assignment to add a link to it from your quiz question. (The Assignment should have been automatically created when you created the MyOpenMath Quiz.)
13. Click the </> (switch to html editor) button.
14. Paste target=”blank” after the URL in the link. Make sure there is a space after the URL. The URL will look like this, href=”/courses/######/assignments/######”
15. After pasting, it should look like this href=”/courses/######/assignments/######” target=”blank”
16. Add this text in the Correct Answer field: “I have completed and submitted my quiz in MyOpenMath”
17. Delete all other choice options.
18. Make sure the Question is set to zero points. (there is a pts field in the upper right corner)
19. Click Update Question
20. Save the Quiz
