Through the conversation between a child and his mother, planetarium show \u201cTravelling with Light\u201d tackles the importance of light in all areas of our lives. This 2020 film presents different scenarios that reveal the complexity of light and its direct influence on our planet. The Sun is the closest star to Earth and generates the energy that provides the light and heat necessary for life. The study of the Sun\u2019s light and that of other stars and galaxies enables the development of several models that explain the origin, structure and evolution of the universe.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the Sun is not the only source of natural light. Fire has accompanied the Earth since its inception and has played a very important role in the evolution of the human being, so much so that its discovery by primitive societies changed their way of life. Even artificial light and its applications in medicine or communication reveal the relationship between humanity, life and light.<\/p>\n

Admission<\/h2>\n

There is no charge for our public programs, although donations of $1-$2 per attendee will be greatly appreciated to allow us to continue these public programs for our community.<\/p>\n

Parking<\/h2>\n

Parking is\u00a0free on campus\u00a0for our guests\u00a0only on\u00a0Saturdays\u00a0and Sundays.\u00a0From Monday-Friday, the UWSP parking lots are\u00a0enforced 2 am \u2013 7 pm. Please visit\u00a0this website<\/a>\u00a0for more details about parking\u00a0options, rules, and regulations.<\/p>\n

Our shows are open to the public in the Allen F. Blocher Planetarium<\/strong>.\u00a0The planetarium is located on the second floor of the Science Building<\/a>, by the Foucault pendulum, right above the east main entrance. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Direct access is obtained through the east entrance.<\/p>\n
