{"id":1007,"date":"2025-02-05T11:06:36","date_gmt":"2025-02-05T17:06:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=198693"},"modified":"2025-02-13T10:19:17","modified_gmt":"2025-02-13T16:19:17","slug":"flute-clarinet-and-saxophone-day","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/calendar\/event\/flute-clarinet-and-saxophone-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Flute, Clarinet, and Saxophone Workshop @ UWSP<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">March 8, 2025 12pm check in, 1-6pm workshop, brief reception to follow\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Are you a high school flute, clarinet, or saxophone player?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> You\u2019re invited to join the students and faculty at the UWSP Department of Music in a day-long workshop where you can:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Perform your solo repertoire or etudes in a masterclass and get feedback from UWSP faculty<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Attend workshops on playing in a jazz combo, adjusting reeds, and individual instrument technique<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Perform chamber music with your peers and current UWSP students<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hear UWSP students and faculty perform<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Build lasting connections with the woodwind community at UWSP and throughout Wisconsin<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>How do I register?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In order to register for our Flute, Clarinet, and Saxophone Workshop you simply need to fill out the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=rUucIBTfckGH3wYPhPAaETA273ZpJ6tIoS4fZZbr-WRUQ0xTTUEwU0hBVllBMVNHNFhUVEU0WFpBVS4u\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">registration form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and pay the $20 participant fee. Once you\u2019ve registered, the UWSP woodwind faculty will reach out to confirm your registration and provide you with next steps.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fees can be paid through the mail via check or in person via cash or check on the day of during check in. Checks should be made out to \u201cUWSP Music Department.\u201d Please mail any checks addressed as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Music Department, FCS Workshop<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1800 Portage St.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stevens Point, WI 54481<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What to expect:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">12-1pm Registration<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Register in the Noel Fine Arts Center lobby and meet student volunteers who will help show you where the rooms for your events are.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1pm Masterclasses<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Enjoy attending a masterclass by the faculty on your instrument. In this class, our faculty will hear a few attendees play their solo pieces for solo and ensemble, etudes for all state or private lessons, or other relevant music. You can express interest in performing on the registration form or reach out to the professor who plays your instrument.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2:30pm Rehearsal\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rehearse with your peers to prepare a chamber music piece for the 5pm concert.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">3:30pm Choose your own workshop<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Choose a workshop to attend to learn more about playing with a jazz combo, work on single reeds (sponsored by D\u2019Addario), or work on flute vibrato and double tonguing.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">4:30pm Open hall\/warm up break<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Take a break to chat with current students or warm up to prepare for your performance!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">5pm Concert\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Featuring attendees, UWSP Professors, and current UWSP students<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">6pm Brief Reception<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Enjoy a few snacks and congratulate each other on a wonderful performance.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Flute, Clarinet, and Saxophone Workshop @ UWSP March 8, 2025 12pm check in, 1-6pm workshop, brief reception to follow\u00a0 &nbsp; Are you a high school flute, clarinet, or saxophone player?
