The Wind Symphony performs at 7:30 on Thursday, April 25th and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs on Wednesday, May 1 at 7:30 featuring oboe soloist Stacey Berk, both in Michelsen Hall. The Wind Symphony concert entitled \u201cTall Tales\u201d presents visually evocative works of fantastical tales such as Lord of The Rings and The Firebird. In addition, state-of-the-art sound and video equipment provide the space with the flexibility to be used in a variety of multi-media settings.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Michelsen Hall was named after Peter Michelsen. Long-time music department chair Donald Greene said about Michelsen, &#8220;Peter Michelsen was the music department.&#8221; Michelsen was appointed music director in 1931. He formed the first real band of the college that by 1935 grew to a widely known 60 member touring group.
