SUMMARY:Totality
DESCRIPTION:Totality is a program covering everything you need to know about lunar and solar eclipses. We look back to the proof of general relativity and look forward to upcoming eclipses and where to witness them. Our production includes a variety of wonderful styles\, from spectacular space environments to humorous pop-up books. A very special part of the show relates\, in a very human way\, what happens when you are caught in the shadow of the Moon and the Sun is plunged into a total solar eclipse. \nOur shows are open to the public in the Allen F. Blocher Planetarium. The planetarium is located on the second floor of the Science Building\, by the Foucault pendulum\, right above the east main entrance. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Direct access is obtained through the east entrance. \nPlanetarium programs for groups (schools\, scouts\, organizations\, etc.) can be arranged during our academic year.  Call 715-346-2120 or email physastr@uwsp.edu \nAdmission\nThere is no charge for our public programs\, although donations of $1-$2 per attendee will be greatly appreciated to allow us to continue these public programs for our community. \nParking\nParking is free on campus for our guests only on Saturdays and Sundays. From Monday-Friday\, the UWSP parking lots are enforced 2 am – 7 pm. Please visit this website for more details about parking options\, rules\, and regulations.

SUMMARY:Partial Solar Eclipse
DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to experience the next partial solar eclipse viewing on campus! Join members of the Department of Physics and Astronomy for the viewing through portable telescopes with solar filters\, at the UWSP Colman Field\, adjacent to Maria Drive. (Limited number of free eclipse sunglasses available.)\n\nThe duration is roughly two and a half hours long beginning at approximately 12:50 p.m.  The maximum visible point of the eclipse will be approximately 2:07 p.m. with the sun most hidden from view. We will follow the partial eclipse for its whole duration until about 3:20 p.m.\n\nNotes: The event will be cancelled if the weather is not favorable. Street parking is available. Please do not stare at or observe the sun without adequate eye protection\, as it can lead to irreparable damage.
