SUMMARY:Phantom of the Universe- The Search for Dark Matter
DESCRIPTION:Phantom of the Universe showcases an exciting exploration of dark matter\, from the Big Bang to its anticipated discovery at the Large Hadron Collider. \nThe show reveals the first hints of its existence through the eyes of Fritz Zwicky\, the scientist who coined the term “dark matter.” It describes the astral choreography witnessed by Vera Rubin in the Andromeda galaxy and then plummets deep underground to see the most sensitive dark matter detector on Earth\, housed in a former gold mine. \nFrom there\, it journeys across space and time to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN\, speeding alongside particles before they collide in visually stunning explosions of light and sound\, while learning how scientists around the world are collaborating to track down the constituents of dark matter.  \n  \nThe Allen F. Blocher Planetarium is located in the Science Building\, 2001 Fourth Avenue\, on the UW-Stevens Point campus. The planetarium consists of a 7.3m diameter dome that houses a DIGISTAR LITE projector (installed in 2020).

SUMMARY:2023 AIME CONFERENCE - Inspiring Innovation
DESCRIPTION:UWSP’s College of Fine Arts and Communication is proud to host the annual Active and Integrative Music Education (AIME) conference. This conference provides a place of connection and lifelong professional development for music educators past\, present\, and future. The event will be held in person in the Noel Fine Arts Center on the UWSP main campus.\n\nWith an eye towards reengergizing praciticng music educators through scholarship focused on active music making and integrating the best practices and ideas from general music education throughout the music education curriculum in new contexts including ensembles\, this conference is a place for sharing knowledge and music making both online and in person. Our 2023 conference theme is Inspiring Innovation.\n\nThis gathering is a place for all scholars in the field: music teachers\, graduate students\, undergraduate pre-service music educators\, collegiate music teacher educators\, music therapists\, studio teachers\, and retired music educators to come together and learn from and with one another\, while hopefully making music together\, sharing successes with their students\, and inspiring one another. It is hoped that this will be a positive and uplifting day that will encourage us all and ‘recharge our batteries’ as we head into our Spring semesters and a new year full of hope and optimism for what music education at its best can mean for students of all ages!
