DESCRIPTION:Europe to the Stars takes the viewer on an epic journey behind the scenes at the most productive ground-based observatory in the world\, revealing the science\, the history\, the technology and the people. \nDiscover the European Southern Observatory in a story of cosmic curiosity\, courage and perseverance; a story of observing a Universe of deep mysteries and hidden secrets; and a story of designing\, building and operating the most powerful ground-based telescopes on the planet. \nThe movie focuses on the essential aspects of an astronomical observatory\, while offering a broader view of how astronomy is done. From site-testing to locate the best places in the world for observing the sky\, to how telescopes are built and what mysteries of the Universe astronomers are revealing. \nAdmission\nThere is no charge for our public programs\, although donations of $1-$2 per attendee will be greatly appreciated to allow us to continue these public programs for our community. \nParking\nParking is free on campus for our guests only on Saturdays and Sundays. From Monday-Friday\, the UWSP parking lots are enforced 2 am – 7 pm. DESCRIPTION:The UWSP Media Studies area in partnership with CREATE invites you to a screening of “Possession” in the Dreyfus University Center Theater on Friday\, October 10 at 7 p.m. All are welcome\, tickets are $5 and popcorn is FREE! \nIf you’re starting to get into the Halloween Spirit\, consider joining us for a dose of Artsy\, Euro-horror (in English!) with Possession\, the award winning cult horror film by Andrzej Żuławski! \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDKasTnYhGQ \n“Żuławski’s only English-language film\, it premiered at the 34th Cannes Film Festival\, where Adjani won the Best Actress award for her performance. The screenplay was written during the painful divorce of Żuławski from actress Malgorzata Braunek. While not commercially successful either in Europe or in the United States\, with the latter only receiving a heavily edited cut on its initial release\, the film eventually acquired cult status and has been more positively appraised in later years.” \nWatch for additional announcements in this series of classic and international films that are being screened by the UWSP Media Studies area.

This immersive instructional tool is used for most astronomy courses at UWSP. \nFamily Day Stargazing \nEnd the day with some stargazing (weather permitting!) The public viewing will be hosted at the north end of Coleman Field\, the running track on the corner of Maria Drive and Reserve Street.
