SUMMARY:ME (Music Education) Day
DESCRIPTION:Open to high school students (freshman through seniors) who think they might be interested in becoming a music teacher. This is a career exploration day for anyone who wants to see if music education is right for them and enjoy a day of fun on the UWSP campus. \nThe FREE event is from 8 AM to 5 PM\, but students are welcome to attend for only part of the day if needed. Lunch will be provided on campus\, they can attend a music education class\, sit in on choir\, band\, or orchestra\, and can even stay for a fun event at the end of the day sponsored by our music service fraternities and social groups. \nRegister today! \n

SUMMARY:Get to the Point! Conducting Symposium
DESCRIPTION:On November 22-23\, 2024\, UW-Stevens Point Department of Music will be running the very first conducting symposium\, Get to the Point!\, led by John Lynch\, Director of Bands\, and Matheus Cruz\, Director of Choral Activities. This is a course and event not to be missed! Please see the options below for enrolled vs. non-enrolled participants and auditors. \nEnrolled MME Participants and Auditors:\n \nFor those who are interested in this course and currently enrolled in the Master of Music Education program you are required to enroll for either three credits as a participant or one credit as an auditor. Both participants and auditors will have access to pre-symposium Zoom classes beginning the week of November 4\, 2024\, and will wrap up by December 6\, 2024. \nEnrolled participants will have rehearsal time with UWSP ensembles\, will receive feedback from Drs. Lynch and Cruz\, and will participate in all sessions and lectures. Enrolled auditors observe rehearsals in-person or online and will participate in all sessions and lectures. \nThis course is listed as MUS 650/450 under Drs. Lynch and Cruz and counts towards both the MME degree as an elective and the Graduate Conducting Certificate. \nEnrolled MME Students:\nParticipants with podium time enroll for three credits by October 10\, 2024.\nAuditors enroll for one credit of MUS 650/450 by October 21\, 2024. \nNon-UWSP Attendees:\nParticipants will have rehearsal time with UWSP ensembles and will participate in all sessions and lectures.
