SUMMARY:Europe to the Stars
DESCRIPTION:Europe to the Stars takes the viewer on an epic journey behind the scenes at the most productive ground-based observatory in the world\, revealing the science\, the history\, the technology and the people. \nDiscover the European Southern Observatory in a story of cosmic curiosity\, courage and perseverance; a story of observing a Universe of deep mysteries and hidden secrets; and a story of designing\, building and operating the most powerful ground-based telescopes on the planet. \nThe movie focuses on the essential aspects of an astronomical observatory\, while offering a broader view of how astronomy is done. From site-testing to locate the best places in the world for observing the sky\, to how telescopes are built and what mysteries of the Universe astronomers are revealing. \nAdmission\nThere is no charge for our public programs\, although donations of $1-$2 per attendee will be greatly appreciated to allow us to continue these public programs for our community. \nParking\nParking is free on campus for our guests only on Saturdays and Sundays. From Monday-Friday\, the UWSP parking lots are enforced 2 am – 7 pm. Please visit this website for more details about parking options\, rules\, and regulations. \n \n \n  \nGET INVOLVED! \nThe Blocher Planetarium is a treasure of the Stevens Point community\, offering shows to students young and old alike. This space has inspired countless students to go onto careers in astronomy and sparked the imagination of young children on field trips as they ask questions about the universe and their place in it. Help “Rebuild the Wonder” and join this effort to keep future generations gazing up at the stars. Learn More!

SUMMARY:The Hot and Energetic Universe
DESCRIPTION:The planetarium documentary “The Hot and Energetic Universe” presents with the use of Immersive Visualizations and real images the achievements of the modern astronomy\, the most advanced terrestrial and orbital observatories\, the basic principles electromagnetic radiation and the natural phenomena related to the High Energy Astrophysics.  This full dome film immerses viewers in real life imagery and visualizations of gaseous reactions within supernova remnants\, galaxy clusters\, neutron stars and supermassive black holes. Observe the perpetual reactions and processes within the depths of the cosmos\, helping shape our understanding of the universe. \nHigh Energy Astrophysics plays a key role in understanding the universe. These radiations reveal the processes in the hot and violent universe. \n*Recommended for all audiences \nAdmission\nThere is no charge for our public programs\, although donations of $1-$2 per attendee will be greatly appreciated to allow us to continue these public programs for our community. \nParking\nParking is free on campus for our guests only on Saturdays and Sundays. From Monday-Friday\, the UWSP parking lots are enforced 2 am – 7 pm. SUMMARY:Musica- Why is the Universe Beautiful?
DESCRIPTION:This all-ages show in the planetarium presents the idea that art\, music\, physics and mathematics are fundamentally related and an integral part of the beauty of the Cosmos. With vivid\, detailed descriptions of the spiral designs inherent in natural phenomena such as DNA\, sunflowers and galaxies\, the concepts of harmony and harmonics resulting from maths and physics are demonstrated to be universally present. SUMMARY:Spark: The Universe in Us
DESCRIPTION:Journey across space and time as we explore the remnants of stellar explosions\, tracing the movements of elements through our galaxy to understand how stars live\, die\, and seed the Universe with the elements to build new generations of stars\, planets\, and life. \nNarrated by Diego Luna\, the California Academy of Sciences’ all-new\, original planetarium film “Spark: The Universe in Us” explores how hundreds of millions of celestial events have forged the elements that make up the Solar System\, Earth\, and us. \nTravel deep inside a giant star nearing the end of its life\, witness the collision of stellar corpses\, and experience the quiet demise of a star like the Sun. From the oxygen we breathe to the iron in our blood\, the silicon in Earth’s mantle to the uranium that warms our planet’s core and helps give our planet its protective magnetic field\, we owe it all to the stars! \n\n*Recommended for all audiences \nAdmission\nThere is no charge for our public programs\, although donations of $1-$2 per attendee will be greatly appreciated to allow us to continue these public programs for our community. \nParking\nParking is free on campus for our guests only on Saturdays and Sundays. From Monday-Friday\, the UWSP parking lots are enforced 2 am – 7 pm. Please visit this website for more details about parking options\, rules\, and regulations.
