SUMMARY:Laser Pink Floyd: The Wall
DESCRIPTION:Truly the mother of all laser-light shows and a cult favorite throughout the world!\n\n\n\nConsidered to be one of the best classic rock albums of all time\, The Wall is best considered as a continual story rather than a collection of individual songs. It tells the tale of a rock star named Pink and his downward spiral into madness. To the listener\, and indeed many critics\, The Wall is a gripping and spellbinding musical journey – beautiful\, haunting\, powerful and thought provoking. It is a timeless classic\, and one of Pink Floyd’s best\, becoming the group’s second best seller behind Dark Side of the Moon. Now coupled with spectacular and mesmerizing laser art\, Pink Floyd’s classic 1979 epic about personal struggle takes on a unique look\, weaving its story in one of the most popular laser shows ever produced! Visitors will become lost and spellbound as their senses join this timeless journey. \n\n\nLaser light shows set to rock and popular music will be offered this spring in the Allen F. Blocher Planetarium.  The shows will be offered at 7\, 8\, 9 and 10 p.m. nightly from April 2-6\, 2025. Tickets are available only at the door\, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on show days. \nTickets are $7 for adults\, $6 for students and $5 for students with UW-Stevens Point I.D. SUMMARY:One Sky Project - Earth Week
DESCRIPTION:The concept for each film was conceived by the One Sky Project partnership to showcase the ways different cultures see and interpret humanity’s shared sky. The One Sky Project collaborative was convened in the summer of 2019 and involved astronomers\, planetarium professionals\, educators\, and cultural experts from Canada\, China\, India\, Japan\, and the United States. The collaborative partners were integral in selecting the content of the films\, drafting scripts\, and connecting the production team to artists\, musicians\, and narrators. \nEach short film represents the perspective of a different culture or Indigenous society from around the globe. Each film stands alone as a short story or in combination as a longer narrative – organized around themes of “Finding Patterns” and developing tools\, or as we say\, “To Seek Far.” \nOur shows are open to the public in the Allen F. Blocher Planetarium. The planetarium is located on the second floor of the Science Building\, by the Foucault pendulum\, right above the east main entrance. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Direct access is obtained through the east entrance. \nPlanetarium programs for groups (schools\, scouts\, organizations\, etc.) can be arranged during our academic year.  Call 715-346-2120 or email physastr@uwsp.edu \nAdmission\nThere is no charge for our public programs\, although donations of $1-$2 per attendee will be greatly appreciated to allow us to continue these public programs for our community. \nParking\nParking is free on campus for our guests only on Saturdays and Sundays. From Monday-Friday\, the UWSP parking lots are enforced 2 am – 7 pm.
