You’re invited to join the students and faculty at the UWSP Department of Music in a day-long workshop where you can: \n\nPerform your solo repertoire or etudes in a masterclass and get feedback from UWSP faculty\nAttend workshops on playing in a jazz combo\, adjusting reeds\, and individual instrument technique\nPerform chamber music with your peers and current UWSP students\nHear UWSP students and faculty perform\nBuild lasting connections with the woodwind community at UWSP and throughout Wisconsin\n\n  \nHow do I register? \nIn order to register for our Flute\, Clarinet\, and Saxophone Workshop you simply need to fill out the registration form and pay the $20 participant fee. Once you’ve registered\, the UWSP woodwind faculty will reach out to confirm your registration and provide you with next steps.  \nFees can be paid through the mail via check or in person via cash or check on the day of during check in. Checks should be made out to “UWSP Music Department.” Please mail any checks addressed as follows: \nMusic Department\, FCS Workshop \n1800 Portage St. \nStevens Point\, WI 54481 \nWhat to expect: \n12-1pm Registration \n\nRegister in the Noel Fine Arts Center lobby and meet student volunteers who will help show you where the rooms for your events are.\n\n1pm Masterclasses \n\nEnjoy attending a masterclass by the faculty on your instrument. In this class\, our faculty will hear a few attendees play their solo pieces for solo and ensemble\, etudes for all state or private lessons\, or other relevant music. You can express interest in performing on the registration form or reach out to the professor who plays your instrument. \n\n2:30pm Rehearsal  \n\nRehearse with your peers to prepare a chamber music piece for the 5pm concert.\n\n3:30pm Choose your own workshop \n\nChoose a workshop to attend to learn more about playing with a jazz combo\, work on single reeds (sponsored by D’Addario)\, or work on flute vibrato and double tonguing.\n\n4:30pm Open hall/warm up break \n\nTake a break to chat with current students or warm up to prepare for your performance!\n\n5pm Concert  \n\nFeaturing attendees\, UWSP Professors\, and current UWSP students\n\n6pm Brief Reception \n\nEnjoy a few snacks and congratulate each other on a wonderful performance.

DESCRIPTION:DENNIS MITCHELTREE & JOHANNES WALLMANN DUO\nThe musical partnership of pianist Johannes Wallmann and tenor saxophonist Dennis Mitcheltree began 1997 in New York City\, where pianist Wallmann\, fresh out\nof graduate school and starting his professional career in the “Jazz Capital of the World\,” was invited by the already established saxophonist to join his quartet for a\ntwo-week tour of the Midwest. Twenty-six years later\, Wallmann and Mitcheltree’s collaborations include six quartet tours of the U.S.\, two duo and quartet tours of\nGermany\, countless additional performances in venues throughout North America\, three albums led by Mitcheltree (including his 2022 release Golden Rule) and\none led by Wallmann\, as well as many joint educational and festival workshops in New York\, California and throughout the Midwest. Drawing on the neartelepathic\nchemistry Wallmann and Mitcheltree have honed over the span of 27 years\, their upcoming album release Holding Space was recorded in July 2023 at\nthe Hamel Music Center in Madison\, WI. The album features all original compositions by Mitcheltree and Wallmann\, as well as three tracks featuring guest\ntrumpeter Russ Johnson.
