DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the history of the Boston Marathon and running culture in Central Wisconsin \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThree local leaders in the running community will share their personal stories during “Running for Life: Celebrating the history of the Boston Marathon and running community in Central Wisconsin” on Thursday\, May 2. \nHear from Tom Wetter\, Donn Behnke and Nathan Brown who will present about how running has impacted their lives. \nThe event will begin at 6 p.m. on the first floor of the College of Professional Studies with a Running Community Open House and social featuring local organizations and refreshments. The speakers will then each share a 20-minute presentation and hold a panel Q&A. \nTimeline: \n\n6-6:30 p.m.: Running Community Open House (Joan North Place/CPS Café)\n6:30-8 p.m.: Presenters (20 min. each + Q&A) (CPS 116)\nPost-event: Optional book signing by Donn Behnke (Joan North Place)\n\nVirtual option:\nCan’t attend in person? Attendees are welcome to register for a virtual option. In April\, Tom will complete his 25th consecutive Boston Marathon.\nDonn Behnke ’75 has led the Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH) boys cross country program to 13 state titles and authored the book “The Animal Keepers.”\nNathan Brown is a clinical assistant professor in the UW-Stevens Point Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program and the lab director with Pineries Running Lab.

DESCRIPTION:The College of Letters and Science Undergraduate Research Symposium is a highlight of our year when we get to shine the light on the inspirational\, creative accomplishments of our student scholars at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The day of student presentation features projects in the humanities\, natural sciences\, math\, computing\, and the social and behavioral sciences. Students showcase their research through poster and oral presentations during the annual event as a culmination of their research experience. \nThe Symposium has involved 1\,600 students across all COLS majors over the past 24 years!
