Gain Experience Outside the Classroom
- Exhibition Opportunities / Competitions
Students at all levels can sign up to exhibit their work in a range of on-campus spaces and are encouraged to enter work in juried shows. We host an annual juried student exhibition and the chance to win multiple awards, a Scholarship Competition with awards given in different categories, and we regularly post calls to enter other local, regional, national and international art shows.
- Public Art / Community Work
Local organizations and businesses provide opportunities to work on special projects like murals. The Carlsten Gallery Student Advisory Committee (CGSAC) holds an annual Public Art competition offering students $5,000 to create a public work, the experience of proposal writing, and working with a faculty mentor.
- Visiting Artists / Workshops
We host a range of visiting artists who involve students in their work and hold special workshops and lectures outside the classroom. Groups and individuals also travel to attend events or weekend workshops.
