Recent performances include Carl Orff&#8217;s &#8220;Carmina Burana,&#8221; Stravinsky&#8217;s &#8220;Rite of Spring,&#8221; numerous works for Wind Band or Wind Ensemble by Frank Ticheli (with the composer on the podium in a guest residencly), Beethoven&#8217;s &#8220;9th Symphony,&#8221; Brahm&#8217;s &#8220;German Requiem&#8221; and many others.<\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: 'Segoe UI'; line-height: 20px;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: 'Segoe UI'; line-height: 20px;\">UW-Stevens Point&#8217;s music program has every student take a course in music compostion. Admission to the Department of Music as an undergraduate music major or minor is by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/music\/music-auditions\/\">audition<\/a> only.  Your performance proficiency will be reviewed at the end of your first year for permission to continue. In your first semester, with your applied teacher&#8217;s approval, you may audition to enter the performance degree program in the second semester of that year. All majors must present a half recital in your junior year in your major instrument and give a senior recital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.uwsp.edu\/programs\/MUS-JZZ-BM\">music performance (bm) jazz studies option<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This minimum 78 credit major is administered by the area of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.uwsp.edu\/departments\/MUSIC\/overview\">Music<\/a>&nbsp;in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.uwsp.edu\/departments\/SPA\/overview\">School of Performing Arts<\/a>. Non-piano majors must complete level 100 in piano. Woodwind majors must demonstrate proficiency on two secondary instruments. Your performance proficiency will be reviewed at the end of your first year for permission to continue. In your first semester, with your applied teacher&#8217;s approval, you may audition to enter the performance degree program in the second semester of that year.
