{"id":112,"date":"2021-04-03T10:55:17","date_gmt":"2021-04-03T15:55:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/academics\/college-of-letters-sciences\/school-of-humanities-global-studies\/department-of-history-international-studies\/history-minor\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T20:28:45","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T20:28:45","slug":"history-minor","status":"publish","type":"uwsp_programs","link":"https:\/\/www.uwsp.edu\/academics\/programs\/history-minor\/","title":{"rendered":"History"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A history minor enhances the teaching possibilities for students majoring in other social science fields, in international studies, or in world\u00a0languages. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The History Minor consists of a <strong>minimum of 21 credits<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12 credits from 100- and 200-level history courses distributed according to the following guidelines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At least 3 credits from Global or Comparative history courses (101, 102, 201-215).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least 3 credits from Regional history courses (216-275).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>9 credits from 300-level history courses.<br>For more information visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.uwsp.edu\/\">UW-Stevens Point course catalog.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">History Minor for Teacher Certification<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The History Minor for Teacher Certification (Grades 1-9) consists of a minimum of 24 credits<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12 credits from 100- and 200-level history courses distributed according to the following guidelines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At least 3 credits from Global or Comparative history courses (101, 102, 201-215).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least 3 credits from Regional history courses (216-275).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>3 credits from History 300.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9 credits from 300-level history courses distributed according to the following guidelines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At least 3 credits from 300-level Global or Comparative history courses (301-315).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least 3 credits from 300-level Regional history courses (316-375).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least 3 credits from 300-level U.S. history courses (376-395).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>*To meet DPI requirements for a History Minor with Teacher Certification in elementary or secondary education, you should take, as part of the 24 required credits, at least 6 credits in European history; 3 credits survey, 3 credits advanced level, and in different periods of history.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A history minor enhances the teaching possibilities for students majoring in other social science fields, in international studies, or in world languages.
