Download UWSP Bug Biomonitoring Program |
- This program was extensively revised on JUNE 8, 2005 and must be downloaded to use the new databases. The new version of the Bug Program (Version 8.03) is a dBase VI compiled run-time version which does not require dBase installed on your computer. The basic program contains 3 zip files - DNRBUG.ZIP, BLANK.ZIP, TAXAMAST.ZIP, and 3 unziped files - DNRBUG.EXE, DNRBUG.MEM, AND PKUNZIP.EXE. You need to download these files to your computer. I suggest that you create a subdirectory on your hard disk called BUG and download these files to that subdirectory.

The program will run on your old database files. When a working directory is selected within the program, prompts will display regarding file upgrades. Upgrading your files will modify the database structure.
Alternatively, UWSP AEL has revised all databases. The database structures were modified and the contents verified to ensure a clean database. The database format was also altered. The previous arrangement of data by WDNR administrative region/district and year was maintained. Additionally, WDNR administrative region/district databases by year were combined into a master database for each WDNR administrative region/district, and all data were combined into one large, all-encompassing master database.
To minimize your need to upgrade and verify your databases, it is highly suggested that you download the new databases to your computer.
Constant advances in Wisconsin macroinvertebrate taxonomy require changes to TAXAMAST.DBF on a regular basis. These changes will be made in four DNRBUG system files TAXAMAST.DBF, TAXMANDX.NDX, CONVERT.DBF and OLDIDNUM.NDX. These files are downloadable from the previous web page, and must be downloaded to your DNRBUG\TAXAMAST subdirectory only when noted. These files, last revised June 8. 2005 were downloaded during program installation. They only need be downloaded from the previous page if the date of update is different than the date attributed to these files in your program TAXAMAST subdirectory.
