UW Stevens Point has persevered through budget cuts in the past. But losing funding if the Governor's UW budget proposal goes through could be devastating.

"It's the highest, largest cut that we know of in recent history, perhaps in our 121 year history as a university in this community," UW Stevens Point Chancellor Bernie Patterson said.

Governor Walker is proposing a $300 million cut to the UW system's funding-a 13 percent decrease. Like many other UW schools across the state, UW Stevens Point would most likely be forced to lay off some of its employees. It's no different at UW Marathon County, which has already laid off employees in the recent years.
