Now that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states. What does that mean for Wisconsin, where a ban on same-sex marriage was ruled unconstitutional about a year ago?

When Cam Zamzow woke up Friday morning, she didn't expect to hear that same-sex-marriage was the law of the land.

"It is an amazing victory. I am very excited, I woke up to a call from one of my friends saying did you hear the news? So it's a great day," Zamzow, the UW-Stevens Point Gender and Sexuality Alliance President said.

The Supreme Court decided in a 5-4 ruling that the Constitution protects gay couples' right to get married.

"By creating a new constitutional right for same-sex couples to get married basically it puts same-sex couples on the same playing field as heterosexual couples," UWSP Political Science Department Chair, John Blakeman said.
