Family and friends of a University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point student who drowned in the Wisconsin River in 2012 took steps Thursday to make sure other families do not experience the same loss.
Eric Duffey was just 21 when he drowned in Stevens Point after celebrating his birthday with friends. Police said the UWSP student had been walking alone right before his death. The "Bring A Buddy" campaign is in honor of him.
Eight local Stevens Point bars received Bring A Buddy boxes, containing cups, posters, wrist bands and T-shirts promoting the program.
