University of Stevens Point Political Science professor John Blakeman sat down with NewsChannel 7, to talk about the potential economic and policy changes the "Brexit" could have on America.

Blakeman said the British joined the European economic community back in the 1970's, and has been economically prosperous during that time. Blakeman then explained that because Britain is leaving Europe, the pound has hit its lowest value against the American dollar since the 1980's, which could mean positive things for the average American.

"If you are trying to buy a home, mortgage rates in the United States may go down because mortgage back security in the U.S. will attract a lot of investment -- it will be considered very safe," said Blakeman.
