Last meteor shower of the year peaks early Tuesday morning

Early risers will have a good chance to see the last meteor shower of the year Tuesday morning.

The shower is called the Ursids, and UWSP astronomy professor Randy Olson says the meteor shower will peak sometime through the overnight Monday going into Tuesday. "We call them the Ursids because they appear to originate, if you sort of trace them back, from the area of Ursa Major, which is the constellation we know of as the Big Dipper or the Great Bear."
