UWSP Aquaculture Research Center Spared from Budget Cuts

The state Legislature's Joint Finance Committee has restored funding for the Northern Aquaculture Demonstration Facility in Bayfield. Proposed budget cuts could have shut down the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point research center.

Researchers at the facility are working with private industry to develop the world's first commercially viable walleye fish farming operation. On Friday, the Joint Finance Committee not only restored the research center's funding, but added another $100,000 to its budget.
