Daily grind: Wrestling requires around-the-clock focus

Sweat dripped from Jamey Simmons’ chin as he slipped an arm around his opponent’s waist and threw him to the wrestling mat.

This was only one of several drills during three hours of a practice that ended with 30-yard sprints that covered the width of the steamy John E. Roberts Wrestling Room at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
 
All sports require attention to detail, but few are like wrestling, where every action on and away from the mat can impact an individual’s ability to compete.
