Allen Schroeder said it felt good to get back in front of a piece of paper after the holidays, but he admits he wasn’t going to get attached to the artwork he completed Thursday.

Schroeder was participating in the first day of an art class, intermediate/advanced drawing, at the Noel Fine Arts Center during the winterim session at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. UWSP printmaking professor Bob Erickson, the instructor for the class, said the focus is on exploring the drawing process by using just one piece of paper.

Schroeder is one of more than 1,100 students enrolled in a winterim class, which are held from Jan. 2 through Jan. 17 this year.
