Peggy Norton said she wants to make the Community Weight Race fun for her, and that effort apparently has already started with her team’s name choice.
Norton and members of her team, Oh My Lard, were among a group of about 200 participants in this year’s weight race to participate in a kickoff event Thursday night at the the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Dreyfus University Center. The event included cooking demonstrations and a trivia contest with prizes such as gym memberships and fitness equipment...
...Claire Wyttenbach and Dylan Schnese, both seniors at UWSP, were providing a cooking demonstration at the event on crepes with a filling mixture of mixed berries, unsweetened apple sauce and cornstarch. Students from UWSP are teaming up with the Community Weight Race this year to help with weekly nutrition-skills classes for weight race participants focused on cooking or topics such as starting a garden.
