As the first of nearly 9,500 students descend onto the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point campus this week, they'll discover a campus newly free of cigarettes, chewing tobacco and e-cigarettes.

Officials from UWSP announced in December that the campus would go completely tobacco-free both indoors and outdoors by the fall. UWSP Chancellor Bernie Patterson said at the time the decision was made after surveys of students, staff and faculty members indicated strong support for such a policy.
