Suzuki Institute kicks off at UW-Stevens Point

Organizers of the American Suzuki Institute say they hope to continue expanding the two-week summer event at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and to turn it into a recruiting tool for UWSP.

The American Suzuki Institute, founded in 1971 on the UWSP campus, has grown to be perhaps the most prestigious school of its kind in North America. The event, now underway and running until Aug. 2, provides students, parents and teachers with lessons in the Suzuki Method — philosophical principles and music education techniques developed by Shinichi Suzuki during the 1930s that focus on learning through imitation and positive feedback from parents.
