A $2 million gift from an Illinois family to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in memory of their son will be used to create the university’s first endowed faculty position.
Gerald and Helen Stephens of Peoria donated the money in memory of their son, Doug Stephens, who died shortly after graduating from UWSP in May 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management, according to a news release from the university.
