Passenger pigeon lectures planned through Natural History Museum

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will mark the 100-year anniversary of the passenger pigeon's extinction with lectures at the Museum of Natural History.

The passenger pigeon was once considered one of the most beautiful birds in North America, as well as the continent's most numerous. The extinction of the bird species can be tied directly to changes in forestry, such as the prevalence of red oak forests in Wisconsin.
