Eighth-grader Maddie Fink had one of the best seats in the Quandt Fieldhouse for the NCAA Division III women’s basketball tournament hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
She was seated baseline at the south end of Bennett Court, floor mop close at hand, for all four games of the tournament in March, serving as one of four ball girls for the event.
A student at P.J. Jacobs Junior High, Fink volunteered to soak up players’ sweat drops from the floor. And in doing so, she was exposed firsthand to college basketball for the first time. The experience definitely grabbed her attention as an aspiring basketball player herself.
