Mostafa Alabed has come to appreciate American holiday traditions during his time in Stevens Point, but there are some things he thinks he’ll probably never come to understand.
Take the annual Polar Bear Swim, held annually on New Year’s Day at Rusty’s Backwater Saloon in Stevens Point. Since 1992 people have trekked to the saloon, many times in temperatures hovering around zero degrees or worse, to jump into the Wisconsin River.
