Joan and Daren Duffey lost their only son, Eric Duffey, in a drowning accident in the Wisconsin River on his birthday after celebrating with friends in March 2012.
It was the first time he’d gone out to drink alcohol, and one of a handful of times he’d drank at all, Joan Duffey said.
Drowning deaths involving alcohol are becoming all too common in the state, Joan Duffey said, and if a new campaign is successful, the Duffeys can save other parents the pain of losing a child.
