Evelyn Glennie visited the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Tuesday to show students a new way to listen to and feel the music they play.

Glennie was uniquely suited to teach those skills, having become a world-class musician despite being deaf for most of her life.

Glennie is believed to be the first person to create a full-time career as a solo percussionist. She is a three-time Grammy award winner and was a lead musician during the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. Originally from Scotland, Glennie is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and was awarded the title Dame Commander of the British Empire in 2007.
