Fourteen Bannach Elementary School students had the opportunity to show off their work after partnering with mentors from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The 10-week project was called the Challenge Cafe and culminated Thursday in a showcase where the sixth grade students could explain their projects to family members. The project was funded with a $10,000 grant from the Oscar Neale Fellowship.

The project was designed to offer an extra challenge to students as enrichment to their education, said Christine Gould, one of the partners on the project and a professor in the School of Education at the university. Gould worked with Shelly Johnson and Jennifer Wietrzykowski at Bannach Elementary School to lead the project.
