The paper industry is a hot topic. Several paper mills are in the process of being sold. Yet there is optimism for the industry despite setbacks.

Karyn Biasca, a professor of paper science and engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, says she's been teaching students the basics of paper making for years and that the Paper Science and Engineering Program has been around for 30 years. Biasca says more than 700 graduates are in the industry now, and today 80 students are enrolled in the program.
