Ben Hansen, a 22-year-old UW-Stevens Point forestry student, said he plans to stay active in the sport that took him from a collegiate regional and U.S. champion to the world championships in Germany.

Hansen competed as part of an international lumberjack team Oct. 24-26 in the Stihl TimberSport World Championships in Stuttgart.

“We did pretty well,” said Hansen, a senior in the School of Natural Resources. “For a bunch of rookies, we ended up beating out 12 of the other teams, out of 24. That included one other rookie team. The rest were all (pros) from other countries.”
