Sam Barber refused to let herself believe it would actually happen.
Even when she heard the words uttered Monday night, the former D.C. Everest athlete was unable to comprehend the magnitude of the accomplishment.
Barber was named the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s Division III Player of the Year during a ceremony at a banquet held in conjunction with the Division I women’s Final Four in New Orleans.
