Wisconsin Science Festival activities at UW-Stevens Point

Curiosity and creativity will be celebrated at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Oct. 20-23 as part of the Wisconsin Science Festival. 

Held at various locations statewide, the festival helps communities discover how science is changing the way people lead their lives. 

The following free, public events will be held on the UW-Stevens Point campus as part of in conjunction with the festival: 

  • Thursday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m., "How Might Video Games Cultivate Virtue?" - This presentation is the annual University Evening, held at 7 p.m. in the Alumni Room of the Dreyfus University Center, 1015 Reserve St. Led by Assistant Professor Josh Horn, the program will target virtual reality gaming in relation to morality.

  • Friday, Oct. 21, 12-2 p.m., Waste Education Center tour -  Experience demonstrations of research and activities as students learn natural resource management and sustainable practices. The center is located at 1940 Maria Dr. 

  • Sunday, Oct. 23, 2 p.m. "Endless Horizon" planetarium show – Patrick Stewart of "Star Trek: the Next Generation" narrates this program about the people, innovation and discovery that led to modern space exploration. It is offered in the Allen F. Blocher Planetarium on the second floor of the Science Building, 2001 Fourth Ave.

  • Sunday, Oct. 23, 3:30 p.m. "Weathering the Ice Age" – Museum Director Ray Reser will present on Native American history in central Wisconsin at the UW-Stevens Point Museum of Natural History, located on the first floor of Albertson Hall (University Library), 900 Reserve St.
