UW-Stevens Point's Theatre and Dance Department season announced

A Tony Award-winning musical and a classic comedy by Shakespeare are among theatrical experiences offered at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point during the 2015-16 Department of Theatre and Dance season.

Tickets are on sale for evening and matinee performances. Prices are $21 for adults, $20 for seniors, $16 for youth and $4.50 for students with UW-Stevens Point ID. Season ticket packages are also available for all six shows, the three in the Jenkins Theatre or the three in the Studio Theatre. Tickets are available at the UW-Stevens Point Information and Tickets Office, located in the Dreyfus University Center concourse, by calling 715-346-4100 or at http://tickets.uwsp.edu/index.php.

In addition, the First Nighters program offers theatergoers dinner and a show on the premiere Friday evenings of five of the productions (Afterimages 2015 is not included). Meals are provided in the Noel Fine Arts Center courtyard by university dining. Tickets are $110 per person for the Studio Theatre package, $160 per person for the Jenkins Theatre package or $250 for all five. Call 715-346-4429 for more information.




 ​The 2015-16 performances include:

·         “The Seagull: Rehearsed” - Oct. 16–18 and 21-24, Studio Theatre
Join a director, stage manager and company of actors for a fascinating behind-the-curtain look as they rehearse Anton Checkov’s iconic play “The Seagull.” Each performance will be slightly different as the rehearsal progresses.

·         “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” - Nov. 6-8 and 11-14, Jenkins Theatre
This surefire hit won a Tony Award for Best Musical, with a score by musician and lyricist Frank Loesser. It depicts the rise of window washer J. Pierrepont Finch to chairman of the board at a huge corporation in two weeks’ time.

·         “Afterimages 2015” - Dec. 9-13, Studio Theatre
This student-directed show highlights the talents of student choreographers, performers, lighting and costume designers and gives students the full experience of creating their own work.

·         “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” - March 4-6 and 10-12, 2016, Studio Theatre
In one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, four lovers find themselves in the woods, where the king and queen of the fairies are fighting and a troupe of actors is rehearsing a play.

·         “Danstage 2016” - April 8-10 and 14-16, 2016, Jenkins Theatre
The annual dance concert features new works by faculty and a guest choreographer.

·         “Dogfight” - May 6-8 and 11-13, 2016, Studio Theatre
On the eve of their deployment in 1963, three young Marines set out for a final boys’ night with unexpected results. The off-Broadway musical was written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.​
