UW-Stevens Point Symphony Orchestra to give spring concert

An award-winning student soloist will perform at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Symphony Orchestra’s final concert of the academic year.
 

The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center. The featured soloist will be Amanda Baker, a senior soprano voice major from Oconomowoc and winner of the UW-Stevens Point 2015 Alice Peet Faust Concerto Competition. 

The concert will open with Mozart’s “Overture to The Magic Flute” and conclude with Symphony No. 8 by Antonin Dvorak. 

The orchestra is led by Professor Patrick Miles, who is in his 25th season as conductor of the ensemble and is director of orchestral activities at UW-Stevens Point. Students from all majors audition to become members. 

A part of the Music Department Scholarship Series, the concert is $8.25 for the public, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for youth and students. Tickets are free the day of the concert for UW-Stevens Point students with I.D.
