Preschoolers and their parents will share time together hearing stories about animals and nature this spring at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Museum of Natural History.

Story Time at the Museum is a free, public program that brings natural history to life through books read by UW-Stevens Point students. Each session also includes an activity or art project related to the story.

Story Time is held biweekly on Tuesdays from 10-11 a.m. beginning Feb. 9 (no session will be held March 22). Call 715-346-2858 to register, then meet at the museum on the first floor of the University Library, 900 Reserve Street. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

This semester’s programs and book titles include:

·         Feb. 9, “Hippo Goes Bananas” – What is causing hippo to bellow, spin in circles and crash into a tree?

·         Feb. 23, “Pierre the Penguin: A True Story” – Pierre the penguin is losing his feathers. What can the zookeepers do to help him?

·         March 8, “The Hermit Crab” – Hermit crabs usually hide in their shells, but when one becomes a hero, he doesn’t know how to deal with the attention.

·         April 5, “Bats at the Library” – A colony of bats explores a library and settles in for story time.

·         April 19, “Little Tree” – When autumn arrives, a little tree does not want to let go of his leaves.

·         May 3, “Dinosaurs Love Underpants” – How did dinosaurs become extinct? Because of an underwear war!
