“Viewpoints: Social In/Justice” will be exhibited this summer at Edna Carlsten
Gallery at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The
exhibition opens Saturday, June 18, and
continues through Friday, July 29. A
reception will be held at the gallery Friday, June 24, from 5-8 p.m.
The exhibition
includes a print portfolio organized by Benjamin Rinehart, associate professor
of art at Lawrence University. “Social In/Justice” consists of 15 prints
created by artists from around the country. Each artist was asked to react to,
and personalize challenges to societal norms through a variety of printmaking
techniques. The work explores unfair acts, inequalities and restrictions to
individuals or groups of people.
In addition,
Wisconsin artists have contributed work related to their personal viewpoints of
“Social In/Justice” on issues relevant in society today.
The
gallery is free and open to the public. It is located on the second floor of
UW-Stevens Point’s Noel Fine Arts Center.
Summer hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday-Sunday.
