Spring into learning about nature in April by attending free,
public programs at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Schmeeckle
Reserve.
Taught by UW-Stevens Point students, the programs are
offered at the reserve’s Visitor Center, 2419 North Point Drive, Stevens Point.

April programs include:

Tracking
the Timberdoodle, Monday, April 6, 7-8 p.m. Take a guided walk through the
reserve to learn about the woodcock, a ground dwelling bird sometimes called
the timberdoodle.

Spring
Into Action, Thursday, April 16, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Celebrate phenology, the
study of the seasons, as Schmeeckle Reserve begins the changes of spring.

The Power
of Nature, Saturday, April 18, 1-2 p.m. Stroll down Schmeeckle Reserve’s
Trail of Reflections to learn more about famous naturalists, including Ralph
Waldo Emerson and Aldo Leopold. Participants will create their own nature
journal.

Record
the Ribbit! Earth Day Frog Walk, Wednesday, April 22, 7:30-8:30 p.m. Identify
the spring calls and “record the ribbit” as part of this Earth Day citizen
science event. Park and meet at the Wood Lane entrance on the eastern edge of
the reserve.
