The Bad Plus will bring a fusion of jazz, pop, blues and folk music to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point as part of the 25th annual Jazz Festival.

The band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center. The public performance caps a day of jazz study by more than 700 high school and middle school students from around Wisconsin, sponsored by the UW-Stevens Point Department of Music.

Tickets for the concert are $18 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. Purchase tickets through the Information and Tickets Office at 715-346-4100, 800-838-3378 or http://tickets.uwsp.edu.

“The Bad Plus are an acoustic jazz trio for the future,” according to Blender magazine. Since forming in the late 90s, the band has garnered international attention and critical acclaim for the creativity and flair of live performances by bassist Reid Anderson, Wisconsin native and pianist Ethan Iverson and drummer David King.

The group has released 10 studio recordings. In 2014, it was recognized by Downbeat Magazine as a top jazz band and for having one of the top 10 best albums of 2014 with “The Rite of Spring.”
