Jazz Ensemble concert set at UW-Stevens Point

The Jazz Ensemble at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will perform songs by an upcoming campus guest artist as part of a Monday, Dec. 12, concert. 

The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center, featuring "Roll Credits" and "Respiration" by bassist and composer Ben Allison. He will be at the university in February 2017 as the featured guest of the UW-Stevens Point Jazz Festival.

The ensemble will also perform "My Island" by Ken Schaphorst, "Tennessee Waltz" by Stewart/King, "Idyll" by Bob Brookmeyer and "Soupbone" by John Clayton.

The Jazz Ensemble is made up of students on saxophone, trumpet, trombone and rhythm instruments. It is directed by Mathew Buchman, professor and director of Jazz Studies.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $5 for UW-Stevens Point students, faculty and youth and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. if not sold out. Tickets also may be purchased at the door if available. Proceeds benefit student scholarships.
