Are
you thinking of a career change or planning for retirement? A new financial
planning program can help.
The
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is offering a six-week series on all
aspects of financial planning. It will be held on Saturdays, Sept. 28 to Nov.
2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Financial
planning is one of the fastest growing career paths, which Money magazine
forecasts will grow 41 percent by 2016. Average earnings for financial planners
exceeded $100,000 for 2010, according to the 2011 Survey of Trends in the
Financial Planning Industry.
The
series will cover important areas needed to achieve financial independence and
a quality lifestyle, including financial planning, insurance, investments,
taxes, retirement and estate planning, said Business Professor David Schalow of
UW-Stevens Point, who will lead the sessions. “At a time when many careers are in
decline and financial literacy becomes more important, financial planning
skills are in high demand.”
Those
interested may attend the entire series, a single session or a choice of any
three sessions. The cost for any one session
is $200, including class materials. The entire six-session series is $700.
Optional
university credit also is available. For more information, call UW-Stevens Point Continuing Education
