Creative students from schools across the state will gather at the University
of Wisconsin-Stevens Point this weekend for the
Wisconsin Destination Imagination Affiliate State Tournament.
The event will be
held Saturday, April 12, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in various locations across campus. Throughout the tournament, Destination
Imagination teams will use creativity, critical thinking and collaborative
problem-solving to compete in seven, standards-based
challenges with fine arts, service learning, improvisation, technical, structural and scientific themes. Each
team must solve their challenge without assistance from an adult team leader.
Local students
will compete in teams from McDill Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, Pacelli
High School, St. Bronislava, St. Stephen’s, and St. Peter’s Middle
School. Top-scoring teams in this tournament will advance to the Destination
Imagination Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn., May 21-24.
In addition, a Creativity Expo
will be held inside Berg Gym in the Health Enhancement Center on campus from 9
a.m. – 4 p.m. The expo will feature local organizations and exhibits in
science, technology, engineering, mathematics and creative problem solving. The tournament and expo are open to the public.
