Music
that pays homage to people and places will be performed by the Wind Ensemble
and Concert Band at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Wednesday,
Dec. 2.
The
concert, themed “Icons and Inspirations,” will be held at 7:30 p.m. in
Michelsen Hall at the Noel Fine Arts Center, conducted by Music Department
Assistant Professor Michael Butler, director of bands.
The
Concert Band will perform “Kirkpatrick Fanfare” by Andrew Boysen, “Elegy for a
Young American” by Ronald Lo Presti and “First Suite in E-flat” by Gustav
Holst.
The
Wind Ensemble will present “Toccata and Fugue in D minor” by Johann Sebastian
Bach, “George Washington Bridge” by William Schuman, “Suite Dreams” by Steven
Bryant and “The Frozen Cathedral” by John Mackey.
The
event is part of the Music Department Scholarship Series. Tickets are $8.25 for
adults, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for students and free the day of the
concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. Tickets are available at the
